Golden Section
Jeremy Ayers
I saw you this morning,
You stole my truck,
You stood on your head
And watched the sun go up.
You’re not going
My direction,
You’ve got your
Golden section.
Lost you in the street,
You were skinny,
I was fat,
I thought I saw you
Where the wind
Took my hat.
Downtown, too,
I was tongue-tied, trapped,
Go ahead, list them,
I’ll draw the words
From your hat.
Woke up this morning,
Took a long bath,
Talked to myself,
The doorbell and
The cat.
Once a gypsy
Took a look
In your hand,
She saw an old soul
And a traveling man.
You danced a country mile
Round the barn
Where I napped,
Just a dream of you,
But it woke me like that.
You’re not going
My direction
You got your
Golden section
